Dubai - MENA Herald: HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has led an open forum with 300 graduate trainees at DEWA, as part of the strategy to build better relations between higher management and employees. This also supports DEWA’s open-door policy of meeting employees face to face, to encourage their efficiency in the workplace. The open forum allowed UAE Nationals to make suggestions about how to improve their personal and professional environment. Members of DEWA’s senior management team were also present at the interactive discussion, where Al Tayer took note of the suggestions and requests made by employees. Suggestions included shifting departments to better suit ambitions and studies, improving training programmes, and implementing flexible work hours.

The discussion also covered training programmes within manufacturing companies inside and outside the UAE, procedures, and the time needed to hire UAE National graduates as full-time employees. Al Tayer recommended some solutions, and discussed the steps required to meet their needs and aspirations, to help them develop their capabilities as DEWA employees.

During the open discussion, Al Tayer discussed the opinions and quotes on leadership in ‘My Vision,’ ‘Flashes of Thought’ and ‘Flashes of Wisdom,’ written by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. He also introduced the graduate trainees to DEWA’s initiatives and programmes, which support the vision of His Highness and covered three of his ideas: leadership, positive energy, and life, to defeat any challenges that may come their way.

“His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum once said that, “We are at the start of the road to our vision, for every peak we reach overlooks the next. Only those who thrive to achieve are on top.” You, the graduates, are the ones who will strive to achieve, as His Highness said, “The vision is clear, infrastructure is ready and confidence in our human resources is high. The future does not wait for those who hesitate.” DEWA takes priority in developing people, as they are a valuable commodity who can be developed to enhance and sustain excellence, internationally,” said Al Tayer.

“DEWA’s strategy revolves around the goal of achieving the happiness and satisfaction of all stakeholders, as well as employees, we are committed to creating a positive work environment, while enhancing the efficiency of our employees, and achieving their loyalty and satisfaction. We invest in our staff as they play a key role in our journey towards international excellence,” said Al Tayer.
