Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA), the government authority charged with regulating, coordinating and supervising all aspects of Dubai’s maritime sector, will throw the spotlight on the emirate’s maritime strategy during this year’s TradeWinds Shipowners Forum Middle East. The event is taking place on March 9, 2016 at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai for the first time in the region under the support of DMCA.

The Dubai edition is the third and final event in the series marking TradeWinds 25th anniversary, following the success of earlier Forums held in Hong Kong and Athens. The forum is followed by an evening reception to maximize guests’ value for time--allowing them to explore potential opportunities and partnerships with fellow attendees.

Amer Ali, Executive Director of DMCA, said: “These are truly exciting times for the global shipping industry, which is ably reflected in the high number of activity posted across international ports. Our presence at this leading international event will allow us to share the objectives we have set in the Dubai Maritime Strategy--aiming to solidify the emirate's position as a leading global maritime hub. In fact, the DMCA is currently sharpening its focus on key areas such as ports, logistics services and maritime arbitration in order to achieve this vision while also developing a safe maritime environment.”

According to TradeWinds, the Gulf region is currently at the centre of heightened interest with the recovery of the tanker market. In line with this, Dubai's maritime sector represents great importance due to its vibrancy, sustainability and safe and secure atmosphere. The leading shipping news portal also commended the DMCA for its continuing efforts to ensure highest levels of services and regulations and the major support of Dubai’s government towards further strengthening the maritime segment.

“Dubai is a vibrant maritime business centre investing in its future. We are delighted to conclude our 25th Anniversary Shipowner Forum programme with a topical discussion for shipowners, traders and financiers with interest in the Middle East,” concluded Julian Bray, Editor-in-Chief, TradeWinds.

The forum, which is a flagship event of TradeWinds, a leading shipping news provider, has been designed to be topical and forward looking with highly focused discussion sessions and presentations made by a mix of high-level global maritime influencers and local leaders.
