Tuesday 23 May 2017

Dubai - MENA Herald: With its ambitious smart city plans and rampant deployment of smart technology and robotic solutions across public services, Dubai is globally renowned as a city with a firm eye on the future. The forward-thinking trend includes present-day adoption of virtual and augmented reality solutions that have been talked about for years but are only now truly entering the public domain.

Step forward this week’s Internet of Things Expo (ioTx), running concurrently with the 4th Gulf Information Security Conference and Expo (GISEC) at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) until Tuesday, where more than 10,000 visitors have entered a world blending the latest innovations in visionary virtual and alternative augmented reality technologies.

With nine innovative companies showcasing products in ioTx’s VRAR Zone – held in in collaboration between DWTC and the VARA Association – here’s some of the top Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality experiences on display:
EventAgrate – The UAE-based pioneer in Interactive Technology Lab solutions, cutting-edge sensors research and development, touch applications and giant wall-screens triggered by motion sensors is displaying a series of software and hardware solutions at ioTx. The company even created a customised and interactive VR game for the show, where players defend the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai area from bots.

Hyperloop™ TT – With the Hyperloop TT stand at ioTx providing a sneak-peak at the future of the high-speed Hyperloop train – a truly novel mass transport solution – visitors experienced an interactive via VR simulation of a true-to-life Hyperloop™ TT journey. The first stage of the UAE capital link will connect passengers from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain in just 12 minutes.

PearlQuest – Eager to enhance customer experience, PearlQuest is showcasing high-quality virtual and augmented digital interactive technologies, including interactive games, web development solutions and touch screen interfaces for kiosks. One of the firm’s applications allows users to take a picture of a real estate project and an augmented reality scale model of the project emerges, outlining dimensions of a property both inside and out, so buyers can visualise exactly what they are getting for their money.

Giga Works – Visitors to the stand of this Virtual Reality film studio, which offering 360º capture, virtual reality experience, and customised GigaBox cardboards, were offered the opportunity to take a seat in a virtual recreation of the famous Formula Rossa rollercoaster – the world’s fastest rollercoaster – at Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.

Powered by GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, the region’s leading Information and Communications Technology (ICT) event, ioTx 2017 is strictly open to the industry professionals and tech community, including government departments, business and enterprise. Visitor attendance to the exhibition halls is free of charge, although attendees must purchase tickets to attend the events’ conferences. For more information, please visit http://www.iotx.ae/
