Sharjah pavilion at World Travel Market 2015 receives prominent figures from European tourism markets

Sharjah - MENA Herald: The Sharjah pavilion at the World Travel Market 2015 attracted large number of decision makers, high profile dignitaries and tourism industry representatives on the first day of the leading travel event.

On the occasion, His Excellency Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), welcomed Christopher Rodrigues CBE, Chairman of VisitBritain at the pavilion. During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the tourist sector worldwide and in both destinations, as well as future cooperation.

Speaking on the occasion, HE Khalid Jasim Al Midfa stressed the importance of the Sharjah delegation’s meetings with senior travel and tourism industry officials, stating that the engagements have contributed to strengthening Sharjah’s relations with the European market. The meetings will pave the way for further increase in the number of European tourists to the emirate and enhanced investment ties, he said.

HE Al Midfa said SCTDA is keen to contribute to World Travel Market as it participates in the major global event for the 13th year in a row. The exhibition is of particular significance for SCTDA considering that the event includes the pioneers of the tourism industry as well as decision-makers and specialists from all over the world.

HE Al Midfa stressed that the participation of the Authority at the WTM this year has gained considerable momentum as it shed light on the Sharjah Tourism Vision 2021 and SCTDA’s latest tourism projects and programmes, including the celebration of the recognition of Sharjah as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2015.

Apart from SCTDA, the Sharjah delegation at the WTM includes representatives from Sharjah Airport Authority, Shurooq, EPAA, Sharjah Museums, Sharjah Healthcare Authority, Sheraton Sharjah, Ramada, Al Shaab Village, Hotel Holiday International, Marbella Resort, Oceanic Hotel, Copthorne Hotel, and Sharjah Airport Travel Agency.
