UAE Government delegation visits Borouge’s Singapore office

Dubai - MENA Herald: On 15 February 2016, the UAE Undersecretary for Foreign Trade & Industry at the Ministry of Economy HE Abdulla Al Saleh and his delegation of high-level government and business delegates paid an honourable visit to Borouge’s Singapore office, the headquarters of Borouge’s Sales & Marketing Company.

Warmly welcomed by hosts Rashed Saud Al Shamsi, ADNOC Petrochemicals Director and Chairman of Borouge Pte Ltd, together with Wim Roels, CEO of Borouge Pte Ltd, the visit was part of an official tour to highlight the business activities of UAE national companies operating abroad.

“We are privileged to host this official UAE Government delegation’s visit to Borouge’s headquarters in Singapore, a reflection of the UAE Government’s keenness to understand and learn more about the significant global growth of Borouge and its vital contribution to developing and enhancing the petrochemical and downstream industry both inside and outside the UAE,” said Rashed Saud Al Shamsi. “Borouge’s strong presence in Asia signifies the outstanding business capabilities of UAE national companies to reach out and meet the needs of global customers who are increasingly demanding high quality plastic products that Borouge is an excellent provider of.”

As part of the visit, Wim Roels briefed the delegates on the expanding operations and sales and marketing activities in Asia South where Borouge’s customer base is rapidly increasing. The delegation also toured the office where they learned more about Borouge’s products as well as marketing and sales activities.

“Due to the rapidly growing population, increased urbanisation and a rising middle class, Southeast Asia continues to experience impressive growth with the polyolefin market expected to surge from 8.6 million t/y in 2010 to 14.2 million t/y by 2020,” said Wim Roels.

“We aim to be close to our customers across Southeast Asia and to understand their individual needs and requirements. This is more important due to the complexity and diversity of the region.”

One of Borouge’s major achievements was starting-up the Borouge 3 plant in 2014 which added 2.5 million tonnes of annual polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) production, bringing our total capacity to 4.5 million tonnes a year.
