WETEX 2016 encourages universities to take part in Innovation Hall to show their latest advances in energy, water and environment

Dubai – MENA Herald: Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has allocated special areas for universities in its Innovation Hall, announced recently as part of the 18th Water. Energy. Technology. and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2016), organised under the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of DEWA at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 4- 6 October 2016. The hall is able to accommodate at least 14 universities.
“The Innovation Hall will support the foundations of environmental sustainability in line with the National Green Economy for Sustainable Development initiative launched by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to build a green economy in the UAE and the UAE Vision 2021 which prioritises sustainability. We invite UAE and international universities to participate at the Innovation Hall at WETEX to showcase their scientific role in managing environmental issues and displaying their research papers and innovative projects. We are looking forward to the complementary role of universities to contribute in the development of the energy, environment, and water sectors. We believe that their presence in the exhibition will enrich and boost its position as a global scientific platform which gathers scientists, researchers, academic people, think tanks, and students from around the world,” said HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA and, Founder and Chairman of WETEX.
“The Innovation Hall aims to increase the participation of universities and students and enhance their perspectives and knowledge about the latest updates in energy, water, and environment. Moreover, we are looking forward to their participation in activities, competitions, and seminars presented by sponsors and global companies at the event to highlight the latest innovations, and inventions which serve smart cities and ensure a happy life. Motivating innovation and creating an incubator environment in these vital sectors is a joint effort between DEWA and the education industry in the UAE, especially UAE universities which also boost innovation and creativity through various initiatives, studies and research,” added Al Tayer.
“The participation of university students in WETEX has made it one of the leading expos globally in energy, water, and environment. Participating universities will display their innovative and scientific research as well as their advances. The Innovation Hall at the exhibition will focus on displaying the latest innovations in energy and water consumption as well as technologies and green solutions for all society,” emphasised Al Tayer.
The Innovation Hall encourages innovation, promotes the best environmentally-friendly practices and increases the role of sustainable solutions to boost the global competitiveness of the UAE in environmental sustainability. The hall will host discussion panels open to the public to give in-depth insights about major inventions and innovations in traditional and renewable energy, water, environment, oil and gas, and their relevant sectors during the three days of the show. Universities will play an instrumental role in highlighting the latest scientific and research trends in these fields.
WETEX 2016 will be held under the umbrella of Green Week, the pioneering initiative led by DEWA to boost green practices implementation. It also coincides with the first Dubai Solar Show, a key platform for building, operating, distributing, storing and managing solar energy solutions and technologies.
