Bahrain Energy Minister to open inaugural Middle East Heavy Oil Congress in Manama

Abu Dhabi - MENA Herald: Bahrain’s Minister of Energy and Chairman of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA), His Excellency Dr Abdul Hussain bin Ali Mirza will open the Middle East Heavy Oil Congress (MEHOC) in Manama on Wednesday 25 November.

The Minister will deliver a keynote address for the November 25-26 Congress and will inaugurate the co-located exhibition to be held at the Gulf Hotel. Fully supported by NOGA, Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO), Tatweer Petroleum and Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), MEHOC will attract many of the regional and global heavy oil experts including Andrew Kershaw, CEO, Tatweer Petroleum, Emad Sultan, Deputy CEO, Kuwait Oil Company, Hussain Shehab, Country Chair - Kuwait, GlassPoint Solar, Chet Sandberg, Consultant, MCAAA, Andrew Loken, Vice President, ICARE Group, Thomas DiGiacomo, Refining & EHS Consultant, Saudi Aramco, Narayan Krishnan, Director of Tehcnology, Jacobs Canada Inc, and W.D. MEHOC will cover key topics related to the heavy oil industry including the latest technologies in oil production and exploration with an emphasis on opportunities to achieve a minimal effect on the environment at maximum value. The conference will also address case studies from many of the global heavy oil producing countries including Kuwait, Bahrain, and Venezuela with an emphasis on exploration and production of heavy oil and also on refinery updating, diversification and improvement of heavy oil production.

The event’s agenda includes international panel discussion covering collaboration and investment opportunities in Canada with panellists from Alberta, one of Canada’s biggest heavy oil producing region.     

On behalf of NOGA, Secretary General Dr Ahmed Al Sharyan welcomes the participants to the event and stresses the importance of this Congress for the energy sector which is increasingly relying on heavy oil. He said the event represents a significant regional gathering to discuss this vital industry and future trends.
