Business Excellence Awards 2016 winners to be declared on May 3

Dubai - MENA Herald: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Economy will announce the winners of the 2016 Business Excellence Awards – the Dubai Quality Award (DQA), Dubai Human Development Award (DHDA), and Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES) – at a ceremony to be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Wednesday, 3rd of May 2017. The Awards are part of DED's efforts to promote quality and excellence as a catalyst for sustainable growth in the business sector. The 2016 Business Excellence Awards has the Global Islamic Business Award (GIBA) as an added feature. Launched by Dubai Economy to promote best practices and excellence based on Islamic principles among organisations and institutions the annual award is aligned with the directives of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum to make Dubai the capital of Islamic economy. A special recognition will also be awarded to DSES winners who apply the Happiness Meter, a metric introduced to interactively measure the level of customer happiness as part of the Happiness Agenda approved by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Shaikha Ahmed Al Bishri, Director of the Business Excellence Department in Dubai Economy, said: "All institutions operating in the UAE should have the opportunity to be recognised for excellence regardless of their activity or sector, whether public or private. It will encourage institutions to pursue further excellence and provide the best services in line with the directives of the leadership as well as the government in Dubai to promote and sustain quality as a strategic advantage in doing business.” Since its launch in 1994, the DQA has enjoyed the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who has been instrumental in driving the quality movement across the private and public sectors in the emirate. The DQA is the single most valuable framework for companies to implement a quality strategy to improve their effectiveness by involving all employees to meet objectives and achieve customer satisfaction at optimal costs. The DQA winners are honoured in three categories - the Gold Category, the Dubai Quality Award, and the Dubai Quality Appreciation Award (DQAA). The awards will be distributed in key sectors – manufacturing, finance, professional, tourism, services, trade, construction, higher education, healthcare, free zones, transportation, logistics and entertainment. The Dubai Human Development Award recognises the long-term commitment of the private sector to the development of human resources. It offers them the chance to develop and build career paths. DHDA is given in three categories – the Gold Category, the Dubai Human Development Award and the Dubai Human Development Appreciation Award (DHDAA). The award covers the trade, manufacturing, construction, professional, services, tourism, higher education, healthcare, financial services, free zones, transportation, logistics and government sectors. The Dubai Service Excellence Scheme is a one-of-a-kind initiative that aims to gain customer confidence and to make the experience of shopping in Dubai a pleasurable one. The scheme encourages, recognises and rewards businesses that keep Dubai at the cutting edge of best business practice. DSES seeks to maintain Dubai's reputation for adopting best business practices by ensuring that its members adhere to a code of ethics that ensures customer confidence. Participants in DSES are honoured in two main categories: the best outlet, and the best brand. Dubai Economy launched the Global Islamic Business Award in 2016 to honour companies for adherence to Islamic principles in doing business. Participants in the Global Islamic Business Award will benefit from the extensive knowledge on Shari’a principles provided through the Global Islamic Business Excellence Centre (GIBEC). Consultants at GIBEC guide participants in adopting an Islamic business model that integrates Islamic values, business excellence and corporate governance.
