Monday 24 July 2017

Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Exports, the export promotion agency of Dubai Economy, has launched the latest edition of its ‘UAE Exports & Industry Directory 2017-2018,’ the first of its kind reference point on manufacturing and export capabilities in Dubai and the UAE in general, available in three formats – print, website and on smart application. The updated version is aimed to enhance communication between companies in the UAE and those abroad, thereby enabling local industries to successfully target export markets worldwide.

Information on products manufactured in the UAE is listed in the directory according to the International Classification Code for Industrial Products. The directory contributes towards the efforts of Dubai Exports to enhance the performance of the domestic exports sector, eventually enhancing the contribution of exports to the GDP in Dubai and the UAE.

Engineer Saed Al Awadi, CEO of Dubai Exports, said, "We launched the UAE Exports & Industry Directory in 2010 and over the years we have distributed more than 4,500 copies of the directory to local and international organisations through various ministries, embassies, overseas offices of Dubai Exports in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Germany, Russia and India as well as across exhibitions and trade missions. The directory is also available on www.uaeexports.net and serves as a valuable tool for traders in current and potential markets of our local exporters.”

Al Awadi stressed that the directory is part of Dubai Exports’ strategy to create a knowledge network of manufacturers, exporters and markets, particularly when Dubai’s developed infrastructure, competitiveness and connectivity to strategic markets continue to attract manufacturing units.

Fatima Ghanem, Director of Export Initiatives and Partnerships in Dubai Exports, said: "The directory lists local manufacturers in 13 industrial sectors classified according to the harmonized international system in addition to providers of support services in four different sectors - banks, insurance, transport, and importers of industrial equipment and raw materials.”

Altogether, information on 2,700 factories and about 1,050 locally manufactured products is listed in the directory based on industry sector surveys and statistics on foreign trade during 2014, 2015 and 2016, added Ghanem.
