Dubai - MENA Herald: Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Deputy Director General of the Department of Economic Development (DED) inaugurated the second cycle of the ‘Customer Service Week’ organised as part of the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES) at the Dubai Festival City Mall. Held 25-27 August 2016, the Customer Service Week is part of DED’s strategic objective of enhancing service excellence and customer happiness. A bazaar attended by nearly 30 member companies of DSES is the highlight of the Week.

The Customer Service Week initiative reflects the quality management and excellence goals of DED and its efforts to elevate customer service standards, particularly in services provided by businesses. Showcasing their products and services to mall visitors also provides DSES members an opportunity to demonstrate their service quality and competitiveness.

The Dubai Service Excellence Scheme (DSES) is a one-of-a-kind initiative that aims to gain customer confidence and to make shopping in Dubai a pleasure. The scheme encourages, recognises and rewards businesses that keep Dubai at the cutting edge of customer service.

"The Department of Economic Development launched the Dubai Service Excellence Scheme in an effort to improve the quality of work and service provided to customers, as well as to help disseminate a culture of excellence in the fast-growing service and retail sectors in Dubai. The programme also aims to retain and reinforce the prestige enjoyed by Dubai as a preferred destination for business and retailing,” said Ibrahim.

The inaugural cycle of the Customer Service Week was held at the DED premises in the Business Village but this year the event has been moved to a bigger venue to accommodate the growth in the number of participants and visitors. Ibrahim said special arrangements have been at the Dubai Festival City Mall to receive the largest possible number of visitors.

“We have also designated a special corner for books at the venue in line with the ‘Reading Nation’ initiative of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to promote the habit of reading among the UAE community and future generations. Visitors can purchase books and those interested can also enjoy reading them at the special corner,” added Ibrahim.

In addition to enhancing competitiveness and quality, the event also enables knowledge exchange on the pursuit of excellence among the participating businesses, which represent varied sectors such as banking, fashion, money exchange, optics, jewellery, general retail, electronics, and footwear.
