Dubai Exports surveys Paraguay as part of growing focus on Latin America

Dubai - MENA Herald: Dubai Exports, the export promotion agency of the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai recently visited Paraguay, as part of exploring prospects and opening up promising markets in Latin America for exporters in Dubai and the UAE. The trade mission was also part of promoting the Hub-to-Hub concept of integrating Dubai as a vital point in the halal supply chain.

The delegation headed by Mohammed Ali Al Kamali, Deputy CEO of Dubai Exports, included representatives from various public and private sector institutions in Dubai, including the Dubai Islamic Economy Development Centre, Dubai South, Al Rais Cargo and On Time Group.

In Paraguay, the delegation interacted with various industry associations and over 50 suppliers, in addition to visiting the Ministry of Trade & Investment, to learn about doing business as well as opportunities for trade integration in the country. The delegation also briefed the Deputy Minister of Agriculture & Livestock in Paraguay on Dubai’s Islamic economy initiatives, particularly in the areas of halal products and services.

A business matchmaking forum was also hosted by the delegation in Paraguay, during which Dubai Exports explained the services it provides in line with the directives of the government and the role of exports in driving economic development as well as international expansion of local companies.

Dubai Exports focuses on enhancing the export capabilities of local companies and diversifying export markets. Paraguay is seen as a promising link between Argentina and Brazil, which represent two of the major economies in Latin America. Moreover, studies have shown that Dubai’s exports to Paraguay increased 114% in 2015 and with the rising trade and exports between the two countries is expected to provide significant opportunities for local companies.
