The new phone replaces the Galaxy Note 5, bringing the name in line with the Galaxy S7 which was released in March.
Among the Galaxy Note 7’s features is a new biometric security option, with an infrared iris scanner that can lock or unlock the screen with a glance from either eye, although fingerprint scanner or PIN remain options.
Specifications feature the same premium design and build quality that has made the Galaxy S7 Edge so popular, including 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable via a microSD slot. For connectivity, it is the first Samsung phone to use the new USB-C connector. It shares the Galaxy S7 Edge’s water resistance rating, up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes, while the integrated stylus is also waterproof and can work on the screen even when it is wet.
The 5.7 inch quad HD screen is ready for the new high dynamic range video standard being introduced on high-end televisions, and its curved edges make the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 one of the narrowest phones with a screen this size.
The stylus, a popular feature on large Samsung phones, is more precise than the previous models, and elements of the Android Marshmallow operating system are customized for stylus use.
